Okay, so I'm going to have to have chemotherapy. I've accepted it and can only pray that I don't spend most of the next year being sick or that there won't be any serious side effects that would effect my organs or overall health.
I will be given three different drugs. They are:
Taxotere
Carboplatin
Herceptin
These three drugs will be given to me through a port every 3 weeks for 6 cycles. My first treatment will be Tuesday, June 1st.
After the 6 cycles, the first two drugs will be dropped and I will continue on with only the Herceptin. This drug is specifically designed to combat the HER2 protein. Another 6 cycles (every 3 weeks still) of this drug and I should be done with chemotherapy. If I'm able to keep on the schedule of every 3 weeks, my last treatment would be a couple of days after Christmas. I will then have to undergo radiation.
I'm hoping and praying that by March 1st of next year, this part of my journey will be over with.
