It would be very easy to cry out to God and ask, “why? why me?” But whenever these questions come to mind, my immediate thought is, “why not me?”
Cancer is everywhere. I bet there’s not a one of us that hasn’t encountered cancer - either personally or through a family member or friend. Why would I, or anyone, think they can escape it?
Actually, when I think further, I realize that I have led a pretty blessed life. I, nor my family, have had to deal with much hardship. So, “why not me?” seems more appropriate than “why me?”
I think one of the lessons to learn will be for my kids. Danielle and Jake will personally witness how I handle the challenge that’s been given to me. Hopefully, they will see where my strength comes from and know that God will also see them through any and all challenges that come their way.
