ROUND 1, DAY 7

I started chemo nearly a week ago with the threat of a cold. Although my energy level gets better each day, the cold feels like it's inched it's way to being full blown. Yesterday it felt like it was moving from my head to my chest. That's usually how my head colds end up - as bronchitis.

I decided I'd call the oncologist's office and let them know about this piece of information. I was thinking they might want to prescribe some antibiotics. I talked to a nurse and the policy of the center is that they don't prescribe anything unless my temperature is over 100.5, and then I'd have to go in and be checked out.

This makes sense. If there was something else going on in my body (besides a cold/bronchitis), they would need to know exactly what it was. Part of the pre-treatment information given to me was that I needed to constantly take my temperature and if it ever went over 100.5, I was supposed to call the office immediately. They take it very seriously.

My temperature has been normal thus far so I guess I'm going to have to live with this cold. And I'll be keeping close tabs on my temp this week seeing that day 7-10 is when my immune system will be at it's lowest.
